Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson will not accept any agreement with the Senate and the White House on border security that would provide for continued assistance to Ukraine. According to UNIAN, citing Fox News, Johnson privately told his fellow Republican Party members in the House of Representatives, reports .

According to one Republican lawmaker, the speaker said that the House of Representatives would not support anything but the border security bill with Mexico, known as HR2.

“This comes as a bipartisan group of senators is discussing what compromises on border policy can be made in exchange for Republican support for the Democrats’ request for $110 billion in additional funding for Ukraine, Israel and other humanitarian purposes,” the newspaper reminds.

According to the source, the Senate is close to a deal on the border. At the same time, another Republican lawmaker expressed his belief that none of his fellow party members would support the Senate deal.

“Where is the border security in this? We need HR2 or a functional alternative, but the speaker is correct that the president has unilaterally made more than 60 policy changes that have dismantled our border security and brought us to where we are. He can unilaterally fix this today without any legislative action,” – said the lawmaker.
