a court has recovered UAH 139 million in favour of the Kyiv budget from a contractor who, instead of building a subway to the Vynohradar residential area in the capital, put the money on deposit. This was reported by the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.
The Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office found that the commercial structure, contrary to the law, placed funds received from the capital’s budget for the construction of the subway from Syrets station to the Vynohradar residential area on deposit accounts in a bank.
Thus, it earned interest in the amount of over UAH 139 million.
In October 2021, the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office filed a lawsuit with the Kyiv City Commercial Court in the interests of the state represented by the Kyiv City Council, demanding that the contractor recover these funds in favour of the territorial community of the capital represented by the Kyiv City Council.
Back in 2022, the Kyiv Commercial Court fully satisfied the prosecutor’s claim to recover UAH 139 million to the capital’s budget.
Earlier, Kommersant Ukrayinsky ‘s sources in the Kyiv City State Administration reported that several stations on the Blue Line of the Kyiv Metro are preparing to close. These are Pochayna and Taras Shevchenko stations.
As reported, the State Audit Service of Ukraine, during an audit of the Kyiv Metro utility, found violations and losses worth more than UAH 200 million.
It should be noted that on 8 December 2023, an accident occurred at the overrunning tunnel between Demiivska and Lybidska stations due to depressurisation of the tunnel and cracks in the walls. The case is now being investigated by the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
The repair of Lybidska and Demiivska metro stations will cost almost UAH 400 million.
