Despite the continuation of the full-scale war, real GDP began to grow in Ukraine in 2023. This was reported by the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.
Thus, in 2023, real GDP in Ukraine grew by 5.3%. Thus, the Ukrainian economy is growing in the face of a full-scale war. A year earlier, in 2022, real GDP fell by 28.8%.
So far, this is only a preliminary estimate by the State Statistics Service. If it turns out to be correct, GDP growth will exceed the National Bank’s forecast of 4.9%.
In 2023, Ukraine’s nominal GDP was UAH 6,537.8 billion.
Real GDP is the total volume of production measured at constant (basic) prices, meaning that the value of this indicator is affected only by changes in production volumes. It is the level of real GDP per capita that is used to compare the level of development of countries around the world. A higher real GDP per capita is an indicator of a higher standard of living.
