According to Army FM, about half a million Ukrainians remain in the frontline areas despite the daily shelling and danger. In communities that are constantly at risk, there are no days off or holidays during the war. And often, they do not even have the necessary products to prepare traditional ceremonial dishes.
That’s why on the eve of Easter, Yevhen Klopotenko, the Dukhmyana Khata brand and the inclusive bakery Good Bread have teamed up to call on Ukrainians to take care of civilians in the frontline areas and treat them to festive Easter bread. Anyone can pre-order Easter bread on the Good Bread website. The cost of one Easter cake is 220 hryvnias. On the eve of the holiday, a team of volunteers will deliver all the Easter cakes to people living near the war zones.
“Easter cake is an integral symbol of Easter. Nowadays, it is also a symbol of resilience, unity and support. Each Easter cake we bake as part of the initiative is a manifestation of love and care for people who are forced to face hardship due to the Russian invasion. Our partners and I want the residents of the frontline territories to feel the care and spirit of Easter, not just the war, on the eve of such an important holiday for all Ukrainians,”
– say the project initiators.
The Share the Warmth of Easter charity event is based on the tradition of baking Easter cakes, which can unite people in difficult times and spread the energy of goodness. Therefore, the project initiators also invite Ukrainians to join in baking charity Easter cakes at home. Anyone can bake one or two more Easter cakes than usual and share the Easter bread with family, colleagues, or even strangers. The Easter cake recipe is published on Yevhen Klopotenko’s website.
