The Ukrainian women’s double sculls won gold at the World Rowing Championships in Italy. This was announced by the National Olympic Committee, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.
The women’s double sculls consisting of Natalia Dovgodko, Kateryna Dudchenko, Daryna Verkhoglyad and Anastasia Kozhekova showed the best time among the six crews participating in the preliminary race.
In the final, the Ukrainians proved that their victory in the preliminary race was not accidental. The Ukrainians finished first, well ahead of their closest competitors from the Netherlands and Germany – by 1.84s and 2.35s respectively.
It should be noted that in two weeks’ time Natalia Dovgodko, Kateryna Dudchenko, Daryna Verkhoglyad and Anastasiia Kozhenkova will defend their European championships in Szeged, Hungary.
