The National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption has confirmed that in January this year it transferred UAH 122.5 million to the Servant of the People political party to finance its statutory activities. This is stated in the NAPC’s response to the request
According to the law, the agency said, parliamentary parties that received 5% of the vote are entitled to state funding for their statutory activities. “The Servant of the People is one of five such parties. A total of almost UAH 1 billion is allocated for their funding this year.
“In accordance with Annex No. 3 to the Law of Ukraine “On the State Budget of Ukraine for 2024”, expenditures in the amount of UAH 840,526.6 thousand have been approved to finance the statutory activities of political parties, the main administrator of which is the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption,”
– reads the response.
Funding is provided on a quarterly basis, so the agency transferred 25% of this amount to the parties’ accounts in January.
“In January 2024, the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption ensured the transfer of funds allocated from the state budget in the amount of 25 per cent of the total amount of state funding to political parties that were entitled to state funding (All-Ukrainian Union Batkivshchyna, European Solidarity, Voice, Servant of the People), in particular, the amount of state funding for Servant of the People was UAH 122,575.35 thousand,”
– the NACP confirmed.
In January of this year, the NACP press service also reported that the Servant of the People returned almost UAH 49 million of unused budget funds for 2022 to the state budget. This happened after the law renewed financial reporting obligations for Ukrainian political parties in December last year.
“The Servant of the People is the winning party in the 2019 parliamentary elections, which saw it win 254 seats out of 450 and thus gain the ability to single-handedly make most parliamentary decisions. Currently, the Servant of the People faction officially has 235 MPs, but in practice, the party does not have the 226 votes needed to pass laws and other acts.
