Latvia will auction off a land plot in the centre of Riga and the Moscow House located on it. Previously, it belonged to the government of the Russian capital and was nationalised by a decision of the Saeima. LSM writes about this with reference to the government’s decision, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.
The property can only be sold as a whole: both the building and the land. According to the cadastral data of the State Land Service of Latvia, the price of the land plot is EUR 517,083, and the price of the building is EUR 2,348,340.
The funds raised at the auction (after deducting administrative costs) are to be used to support Ukraine, so special amendments to the law on supporting Ukrainians will be submitted to the Seimas.
The report reviewed by the government notes that the facility may not be sold quickly, so the deal may not take place in 2024.
It should be noted that on 11 January 2024, the Latvian Saeima decided to nationalise the House of Moscow, which is located in Riga.
Prior to the nationalisation, the House of Moscow was subordinated to the structures actually owned by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.
