MPs in the Georgian parliament fought during a discussion of a bill on foreign agents, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.
A similar bill was considered in Georgia last year, which sparked mass protests and the document was withdrawn. Today, the initiative has been returned to parliament, replacing the words “agent of foreign influence” with the words “organisation that represents the interests of a foreign power.”
There is a corresponding provision on foreign agents in Russian law. When a special body declares a citizen to be a foreign agent, any references to the citizen or its content must be marked with appropriate labels and inscriptions. Foreign agents in Russia are restricted in their ability to earn money and some civil rights.
