Hrynkevych case: four out of five defendants arrested, total bail exceeds UAH 1.5bn

On the evening of 18 January, three defendants in the Hrynkevych case regarding the supply of low-quality clothing to the Armed Forces were taken into custody. This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, reports .

According to prosecutors, each of the defendants was granted bail in excess of UAH 500 million as an alternative to detention. Hrynkevych himself was previously granted bail in the amount of UAH 429 million 440 thousand.

According to preliminary estimates, the actions of Hrynkevych and his associates caused losses to the state of about UAH 1.2 billion. Thus, the total amount of bail for the defendants in the case is almost twice the expected damage to the state. There is currently no information on whether the businessmen have posted bail.

The fifth defendant in the case, Roman Hrynkevych, son of Ihor Hrynkevych, is on the wanted list. As explained by the SBI, he was not arrested earlier because there was not enough evidence to do so.
