462 Ukrainians have been declared winners of the third wave of the “Own Business” grant programme in 2024 and will receive 111m hryvnias from the state to open or expand their businesses. This was announced by the press service of the Ministry of Economy, Kommersant Ukraina reports
In total, since the start of the programme, more than 14,600 Ukrainians have become its winners, in whose business the state will invest UAH 3.5 billion.
“These are thousands of companies that produce products, provide services and pay taxes to the budget. More than 1 billion UAH grant recipients have already returned to the state in the form of taxes and fees paid,”
– said the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Economy Yulia Sviridenko.
Among the recipients of micro-grants of the third wave 51% are women, 39% are men and 10% are legal entities. More than 70% of them have higher education.
Most grantees are from Lviv region (62 people), Kyiv region (40 people), Sumy region (35 people), Rivne region (29 people) and Kyiv city (49 people).
The overwhelming majority of grantees plan to spend microgrant funds on purchasing equipment necessary for running their business.
The most popular spheres in which the winners of the third wave will work are:
- wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles – 167 people;
- temporary accommodation and catering – 79 people;
- processing industry – 56 people.
How to get the “Own Business” grant programme
Under the grant programme “Own Business” Ukrainians can receive a micro-grant from 50 to 250 thousand UAH. The funds can be spent on purchasing or leasing equipment, purchasing raw materials and supplies, renting premises.
Both an existing entrepreneur and a person with no experience in such activities can get a micro-grant.
The obligatory condition for granting funds is the creation of 1-2 jobs, depending on the amount of the grant.
The government’s eRobot project includes grant programmes aimed at stimulating entrepreneurial activity and job creation. In particular, these are micro-grant programmes for starting or developing one’s own business, grants for the establishment and development of processing enterprises, gardening and viticulture, and greenhouse farming.
