The water level in the Dnipro River in Kyiv has risen to a record high this year. According to the Kyiv MVA, on 23 April, the water level in the Dnipro within Kyiv rose by another 8 cm.
“As of 24.04.2014, the water level is 644 cm above the ‘0’ post. The water temperature is 12 degrees C. The level of danger of hydrological phenomena is I (yellow)”,
– KMWA reported.
However, the floods do not pose a threat to Kyiv, officials say. No emergency flooding has been recorded in the city. Industrial facilities and residential areas of the city are out of danger.
However, a number of entertainment venues and city facilities located directly on the shore were still flooded.
