Oleg Verniaev, the vice-champion of Europe in artistic gymnastics in the all-around, won the first medal for Ukraine at the European Artistic Gymnastics Championships. This was reported by the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.
Verniaiev won silver in the all-around at the European Artistic Gymnastics Championships with 84.031 points.
The gold medal went to Cypriot Marios Georgiou, who was 0.234 points ahead of Oleg Verniayev. The host of the championship, Italian Yumin Abbadini, took bronze.

For Verniaiev, this is the 13th medal at the European Championships in his career and the first since 2017.
Euro 2024 in artistic gymnastics takes place in Rimini, Italy, from 24 April and will last until 28 April. As part of the continental championship, 16 sets of awards will be played out – eight each among men and juniors. The Ukrainian team is represented by five men and five juniors.
The adult national team of Ukraine includes: Ilya Kovtun, Oleg Vernyaev, Igor Radivilov, Nazar Chepurny and Radomir Stelmakh. Juniors: Yuriy Emelyanov, Vladyslav Vlasenko, Ivan Zavada, Ivan Rudyi, Svyatoslav Shved.
