French tennis player Arthur Cazot, 21, fainted and fell on the court during a match at the Miami Open tournament in Miami (USA), Komersant ukrainian reports.
On 18 March, Arthur Cazot played with his compatriot Harold Mayo in the qualification for the main draw of the tournament. The match was in the third set and Kazo was waiting for his opponent’s serve when he simply collapsed.
Even after receiving medical assistance, Kazo was unable to get to his feet and continue the game. He was taken off the court in a wheelchair.
At the time of Kazo’s fall, the match was 1-1. In the third set, the score was 2-1 in favour of Kazo and 30-30 in the game on Mayo’s serve.
Commentators speculated that Kazo had suffered from sunstroke, but the temperature in Miami at the time was far from a record 30 degrees Celsius with 70 per cent humidity.
Earlier, the 21-year-old Kazo emphasised his excellent physical condition, which is a key component of his tennis success.
“My physical level is very high. I have good genetics. Physicality is one of my advantages,”
– Kazo was quoted by the official ATP Tour website two months ago.
Arthur Cazot was born on 23 August 2022 in France. Before tennis, he played handball as a child. The tennis player is currently ranked 74th in the world tennis rankings, which is his highest career achievement.
