Ukrainian tennis player Diana Yastremska leaves the Australian Open at the semi-final stage, reports комерсант

In the match, which lasted 1 hour 43 minutes, the Ukrainian lost to China’s Kinwen Jen (World No. 15) with a score of 0:2 (4:6, 4:6). At the same time, our tennis player started the match quite confidently and encouragingly, immediately taking someone else’s serve and leading 2-0. Yastremska almost managed to get a break in the third game, having an advantage at even strength, but she was unable to put pressure on the Chinese player and lost the game. After that, Jen Kinven recovered and was able to methodically exploit her slight advantage in most components of the game.

It is worth noting that Jastremska had some health problems during the match, taking a medical timeout and even leaving the court. However, during the game, it was not obvious that she was playing with a serious injury.

In the final, Kinwen Jen will play Arina Sabalenka of Belarus, a “neutral” player, who also defeated American Coco Hauff in two sets, but in the first game it came down to a tiebreaker – 2-0 (7-6 (7-2), 6-4).

Ukraine’s record

Diane Yastremska set a new record as she became the first Ukrainian tennis player to reach the semi-finals of the Australian Open. She also repeated the record of Elina Svitolina, who was the only Ukrainian player to reach the semi-finals at Grand Slam tournaments (twice at Wimbledon in 2019 and 2023, and at the US Open in 2019).
