The prosecutor’s office has accused a Kyiv resident of misappropriating funds that were sent to her as part of a collection to help the Ukrainian armed forces. In total, the woman allegedly stole almost UAH 1 million, Komersant Ukrainsky citing the staff of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
The Kyiv resident turned out to be the administrator of a well-known Telegram channel about Nikopol. There, she repeatedly organised fundraising, allegedly to help the Ukrainian military. She collected funds on her own cards and then used them for her own needs. In this way, she raised almost UAH 1 million in six months.
Law enforcement officers suspect her of violating Part 3 of Article 201-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – “Illegal use of humanitarian aid, charitable donations or free assistance for profit”. The woman faces 5-7 years in prison. The issue of choosing a preventive measure is currently being decided.
