Zelensky and Trump meeting in The Hague: what will they talk about?

The head of the Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak, said that active preparations are underway for the meeting between Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump, which is to take place during the NATO summit in The Hague. Yermak said this while speaking to journalists, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

According to Yermak, the main topic of the talks will be the search for ways to end the war unleashed by Russia.

“We are preparing everything together with our American colleagues. The United States quickly resolved the issue of destroying Iran’s nuclear program. This strengthens security in the world. It is also important to resolve the issue of Russian aggression in Europe,” the head of the OP emphasized.

Meeting in The Hague: what was emphasized

Yermak said that negotiations with NATO leaders are currently focused on the following key areas

  • maintaining stable military support for Ukraine,
  • supply of air defense systems and weapons,
  • increasing sanctions pressure on Russia.

“The Hague. The first day of the NATO summit. Today there are many positive signals – support for Ukraine, our defense, understanding of the Russian threat. We need more air defense, weapons and sanctions against Russia. We came with concrete proposals,” Yermak added.

Meeting between Zelensky and Trump

As a reminder, the first day of the NATO summit started in The Hague on June 24. During a meeting with Zelenskyy, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that the final declaration of the summit would contain “important language” on Ukraine and its support.

Rutte also called for increased military investment and production.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said he planned to meet with the Ukrainian president to discuss arms supplies.

on June 24, the White House confirmed that the meeting could take place. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the head of the Presidential Administration Andriy Yermak discussed this issue.
