The Security Service of Ukraine has served a notice of suspicion in absentia to Boris Korchevnikov, an actor in the Russian TV series Cadets who called for the destruction of Ukrainians.

This was reported by the special service itself, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.

Korchevnikov is currently the head of the pro-Kremlin First Public Orthodox TV channel SPAS. This platform spreads propaganda primarily to Russia’s domestic audience.

In addition, he hosts television projects on central Russian channels, including Russia-1.

Law enforcement officers have documented that in numerous broadcasts, Korchevnikov has repeatedly justified the full-scale invasion and war crimes of the Russians. He also publicly called for the seizure of the entire territory of Ukraine and the physical destruction of Ukrainians.

Among other things, the former actor travels to the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, where he speaks in support of Russian leader Vladimir Putin and Russia’s armed aggression.

Thus, the special services documented how Korchevnikov repeatedly crossed the border of Ukraine outside checkpoints during 2022-2023.

What is he suspected of?

Based on the evidence gathered, investigators notified Korchevnikov in absentia of suspicion under three articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

  • ч. 2 of Art. 110 – encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine;
  • ч. 3 of Article 436-2 – justification, recognition of the legitimacy, denial of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants, committed with the use of the media;
  • ч. 2 of Art. 332-2 – illegal crossing of the state border of Ukraine.

The propagandist is on the territory of Russia, so the SBU assured that measures to bring him to justice are ongoing.
