President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that Kursk is the end of Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin’s rule. Zelensky said this in his evening video address, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.
Zelenskyy devoted his daily evening video address mainly to the offensive military operation in Russia’s Kursk region.
According to him, Ukraine controls the areas in Kursk region from which the Russian army launched attacks on Sumy region.
“Therefore, our operations are a purely security issue for Ukraine, the liberation of the border from the Russian military,” he said and thanked the units that “replenish the exchange fund.”
Zelenskyy noted the symbolism of these events, recalling the sinking of the Kursk ship.
“We see how Russia under Putin is really moving: 24 years ago, there was the Kursk disaster, which was the symbolic beginning of his rule; now we can see what is the end for him. And Kursk is the same. The catastrophe of his war,” the head of state said.
Zelenskyy stressed that “Russia brought the war to others, now it is coming home.”
The Kursk submarine sank on 12 August 2000 in the Barents Sea. The Kursk had 118 crew members on board, all of whom perished. The submarine disaster was one of the biggest tragedies in the Russian Navy and led to strong criticism of the Russian authorities and Vladimir Putin personally.
