President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will address a meeting of the UN Security Council on 24 September. This was reported by Reuters with reference to the Slovenian mission to the UN, Komersant ukrainskyi reports
On the eve of his speech at the UN General Assembly, the Ukrainian president will also address the UN Security Council.
“On Tuesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will address the UN Security Council on Russia’s war in his country, according to the Slovenian mission to the UN, which will preside over the 15-member body in September,” the statement said.
Zelenskyy is travelling to the US with a “victory plan” to present to US President Joe Biden.
The agency notes that his trip comes at a critical moment in the war, when Russian troops continue to advance in eastern Ukraine, despite Kyiv’s forces unexpectedly invading Russia’s Kursk region last month.
According to the diplomats, the UN Security Council meeting on Tuesday will be held at the request of the United States, Britain, France, Japan, South Korea and Malta.
It should be added that earlier the Voice of America reported that one of the important issues at the General Assembly would be to discuss the consent of countries to use long-range Western missiles to strike deep into Russia.
Zelenskyy also intends to personally present a plan for Ukraine’s victory to Western partners, including US President Joe Biden, as well as candidates in the upcoming US presidential election, Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.
