The destruction of the Trypillia TPP was made possible because Ukraine has run out of means to protect it. This was stated by Supreme Commander-in-Chief of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with PBS, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.
Zelenskyy noted that the assistance to Israel from the United States, France and Britain in repelling an Iranian strike clearly demonstrates what allied support means in practice, not on paper. Ukraine, on the other hand, has to defend itself, but its partners are not even providing it with adequate weapons.
Answering a journalist’s question about the critical importance of American assistance to Ukraine, the President said:
“I’ll give you a very simple example. There were 11 missiles flying at the Trypillia power station, which is the main source of electricity in the Kyiv region. We destroyed the first seven. the remaining 4 [missiles] destroyed Trypillia. Why? Because there were zero missiles. We ran out of all the missiles that were defending Trypillia. I’m telling you frankly: without this help, we have no chance of winning.”
He reiterated his recent words that Ukraine would retreat with the available resources.
“Today, the artillery shells are 1 in 10. Can we stand like this? No, we can’t. In any case, with these statistics, they will push us back every day. If we want to fully defend what is under our control today, we must move from one to 10 to comparable figures,”
– zelenskyy said.
He added that the plan for the Ukrainian offensive and liberation of Ukraine exists, and the partners are aware of it. Therefore, they are fully aware of the consequences of each specific decision to supply or not to supply weapons.
Meanwhile, the White House explained why the US shoots down missiles over Israel but not overUkraine. And Speaker Johnson has introduced separate bills to help Israel and Ukraine.
