Zelensky tells how many people Ukraine has returned from Russian captivity since the beginning of the invasion

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Ukraine has returned 4306 people from Russian captivity.
This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.
The president emphasized that all the necessary services are working to return Ukrainians from Russian captivity and promised to return all people.
He also noted that during negotiations with the US side and other partners on ending the war, Ukraine’s representatives “talk about the release of prisoners as one of the first steps.”
“For more than three years, almost the entire duration of this war, our Coordination Headquarters has been working – all the services that return prisoners. More than 4,000 people have been returned: 4306. We will return all of them,” the President said.
Previous exchanges
On March 19, Ukraine and Russia conducted another exchange of prisoners of war in the format of 175 for 175. Ukraine also returned its 22 severely wounded Ukrainian soldiers and those illegally convicted in Russia for fictitious crimes.
Before that, Ukraine and Russia conducted an exchange on December 30, 2024. They managed to return 189 Ukrainian defenders home.
The Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, announced an agreement with the Russian side to hold regular prisoner exchanges in 2025.
