On January 17, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers: they discussed, among other things, the production of UAVs and the missile program. The head of state said this in an evening video address, Komersant ukrainskyi reports
Zelenskyy said that the meeting raised issues of Ukrainian independence in arms.
“There are different issues, but in general, it was about our independence in weapons. The production of drones, the missile program, technological components for the army, in particular robotic systems,” the head of state said in a new video address.
“We are working on larger procurements and on a larger scale of production in Ukraine. I am grateful to all the partners who help us,” Zelenskyy summarized.
Earlier, on November 11, Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov said that in 2024, 1 million drones had already been delivered to the front, and 96% of them were Ukrainian.
In fact, back in mid-October, the President of Ukraine himself reported that Ukraine had already manufactured and sent one million drones to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which were purchased at public expense.
On plans for the next year
In 2025, the Defense Forces intend to supply more than 30,000 DeepStrike attack drones. Some of these UAVs were financed by Ukraine’s international partners by investing in the Ukrainian defense industry.
DeepStrike is a new generation of drones capable of operating autonomously over long distances and engaging enemy targets with high accuracy.
