Zelensky proposes to extend martial law and mobilisation for another 90 days

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has once again proposed to the Verkhovna Rada to extend martial law and general mobilisation in Ukraine. The relevant draft laws on the approval of presidential decrees have been registered in parliament, according to

Draft laws 10456 and 10457 have been sent to the Committee on National Security, Defence and Intelligence for consideration.

Currently, martial law and mobilisation last until 14 February. Zelenskyy proposes to extend them for another 90 days, i.e. until 14 May 2024.

The draft laws may be adopted at the next meeting of the Verkhovna Rada this week. This will be the tenth vote of the parliament to extend martial law and general mobilisation.

Martial law in Ukraine

As you know, on the morning of 24 February 2022, Ukraine imposed martial law for the first time in its history after the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion.

Since then, the Verkhovna Rada has extended martial law and mobilisation nine times since the beginning of the war.
