Zelensky announces sanctions against Russia’s shadow tanker fleet

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has instructed to prepare Ukrainian sanctions packages against Russia’s shadow tanker fleet, propagandists and functionaries. He announced this in an evening video address, Komersant ukrainskyi reports

“I have also instructed to prepare our, Ukrainian, sanctions packages – there is a corresponding justification from the special services. These are strong packages – both for the shadow tanker fleet that Moscow uses to finance the war, and for war propagandists – those who are actually trying to weaken our defense and help Russia, and also for some functions,” the president said.

Zelenskyy noted that the relevant decrees are being prepared, “everything will be done in stages.”

“We are also working to synchronize our sanctions packages with the decisions of our partners, especially in the European Union and other strong jurisdictions in the world,” he added.

Zelenskyy also heard a report from the head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Vasyl Malyuk, and Deputy Prime Minister for Recovery, Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksiy Kuleba.

“There was a report by the head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Vasyl Malyuk, on countering sabotage and countering enemy agents. Having also held a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Kuleba, we are preparing support for our communities, which we agreed with them,” the President said.

Zelenskyy noted that he had been provided with specific data on which communities would receive assistance and the possible amount of funding.
