Zelenskyy announces new agreements and negotiations

Ukraine is stepping up diplomatic efforts to strengthen international support. In his evening address on February 25, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the preparation of important meetings, agreements and negotiations with partners, Komersant ukrainskyi reports
“And there will be more decisions. We are actively preparing them now – meetings, agreements, negotiations. Ukraine needs to be strong to make diplomacy work. There is already a lot of diplomacy, and events will only accelerate. We are preparing some formats with our partners,” the President said.
According to Zelenskyy, work has already begun on the implementation of the promises made during the summit in support of Ukraine held in Kyiv. The event was attended by more than 40 representatives of states and international organizations in online and offline formats.

Special attention was paid to cooperation with the Baltic and Nordic countries, as well as the meeting of the Group of Seven (G7) leaders. These talks are expected to further strengthen the international coalition in support of Ukraine.
Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of active diplomatic work and the need to consolidate the efforts of partners in the fight for stability and security in the region. New rounds of negotiations will take place in the near future, which could significantly affect further developments.

Earlier, the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump offered to transfer 50% of its rare earth minerals to Ukraine in exchange for security guarantees. However, Ukrainian officials said that the draft agreement does not contain such guarantees. Ukraine’s leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed his readiness to work on a “serious document” if it contains specific security guarantees, but stressed that he could not “sell Ukraine.”
At the same time, Russia offered the United States an agreement on critical minerals, coinciding with the completion of negotiations between the United States and Ukraine on a minerals agreement. Russian President Vladimir Putin said he was ready to discuss terms that could be mutually beneficial for both sides.
What does the new version of the agreement on minerals between Ukraine and the United States provide for?
- Establishment of an investment fund to which Ukraine will transfer 50% of the proceeds from the “future monetization” of minerals, including oil and gas.
- The fund will invest in projects in Ukraine.
- The agreement excludes minerals that are already profitable for Ukraine, and will not apply to the activities of Naftogaz and Ukrnafta.
