Increase in utility tariffs: Shmyhal made a statement

The Prime Minister clarified that the cost of electricity for households will not increase until the end of the winter season.
“We continue to support Ukrainian families by keeping the preferential electricity tariff unchanged at UAH 2.64 per kWh. In general, the government does not envisage any changes in tariffs for households this winter,”
– Shmyhal said.
According to him, there are no power cuts in any region today and no plans to do so.
“After 50% of the power system was hit by enemy missiles and drones, we carried out large-scale repairs and added 2.2 GW of capacity to the power system. We have also increased our electricity import capabilities to 1.7 GW due to full synchronisation with the ENTSO-E grid,” he said,

Earlier, Serhiy Nagornyak, a member of the Parliamentary Committee on Energy, Housing and Utilities, said that the cost of electricity could double in 2024.
Ukraine has a moratorium on raising tariffs for gas, hot water and heating, while it does not apply to electricity and cold water. The Cabinet of Ministers increased the electricity tariff for households by 70% from UAH 1.68/kWh to UAH 2.64/kWh on 1 June.
In a letter of intent to the IMF management (Memorandum), the Ukrainian authorities allow for a gradual increase in gas and electricity tariffs for households.
