According to the mayor of Kharkiv, people will be accommodated in dormitories. They will also receive the necessary assistance so that “people can live more or less normally”.
“We need to figure it out, first of all, to localise what is now there, in this high-rise building. Rescue operations will continue and we have to put out the fire. When we have everything sorted out, we will decide what will happen to this residential building,” said Igor Terekhov.
Ukraine’s reaction to the attack on Kharkiv
Ukraine’s response to the Russian military attack on Kharkiv was the reaction of the President of Ukraine president of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky reacted to the attack on Kharkiv.
“The Russian strike on Kharkiv is just about people, about ordinary houses. This strike is a Russian guided bomb. A strike that would not have happened if our Defence Forces had the ability to destroy Russian military aircraft where they are based. We need strong decisions from our partners to stop this terror. This is an absolutely fair need. And there is no rational reason to limit Ukraine’s defence. We need long-range capabilities. We need the implementation of air defence agreements for Ukraine. This is about saving lives,” the President of Ukraine said.
In his turn, military expert Kovalenko is confident that the Russians struck Kharkiv with a precision bomb that hit exactly where it was aimed.
“The Russians used UMPB D-30 planning bombs to commit this war crime. These bombs, unlike the standard FAB-250/500/1500/3000 with UMPC, are characterised by increased accuracy. That is, when coordinating the strike, the occupiers knew exactly where their munitions would hit, and this strike was deliberate,” the expert said.
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal emphasisedthat in order to prevent such tragedies, Ukraine must be able to destroy military targets in Russia. This requires more weapons and the determination of partners.
The Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office has already launched a pre-trial investigation into the violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with premeditated murder. According to preliminary data, the strikes on the city were carried out with guided aerial bombs from the village of Dubove in the Belgorod region of Russia from SU-34 aircraft.
