The Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office is seeking to recover UAH 1.11 billion from the company that won the tender for the reconstruction of the Shuliavska interchange in Kyiv. This was reported by the press service of the prosecutor’s office, reports
This is a tender for the reconstruction of the Shuliavka interchange in Kyiv, which was held in 2018. It was won by the North-Ukrainian Construction Alliance company, which journalists associate with the former head of the state-owned Ukrbud and former MP Maksym Mykytas. According to the terms of the tender, the company was to receive UAH 598.5 million from the Kyiv authorities for the reconstruction of the Shuliavka road junction.
A journalistic investigation revealed that the tender was fraudulent – it was played out between two companies linked to each other and to Maksym Mykytas.
However, the investigation did not stop the Kyiv authorities, who stated that the tender was held in compliance with the law. Moreover, in the course of the contract’s execution, its value almost quadrupled to UAH 1.998 billion.
“As of the beginning of 2024, this private company has already received more than UAH 1.1 billion for the work performed,”
– according to the prosecutor’s office.
Thus, the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office has established a violation of the state’s interests in the public sector 6 years after a journalistic investigation. Today, the prosecutor’s office is asking the court to invalidate the decision of the tender committee and the general contractor agreement, as well as to recover UAH 1.11 billion from the winning company.
