EU asks to return home non-working Ukrainians: Zelensky names condition
3 January 12:52EU countries are asking Ukraine to return home Ukrainians who are not working. And Ukrainians who are used as “cheap labor” are asked to leave. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in an interview during a telethon, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.
According to him, some European officials asked him to address refugees who are not working and tell them to return home. And Ukrainians, who are used as “cheap labor” because they are more efficient than citizens of those countries, are asked to leave.
“I tell them, look, let’s do this: a little more air defense and I’ll say, ‘Come back all of you. But I will return everyone, not just those who do not work for you. And they say: no, let those who work for us work, and let this part return,” Zelensky said.
It is unprofitable to return Ukrainians who are employed in Europe because they pay taxes and do not need to be spent on them as on unemployed refugees, the president said.
The president also emphasized that the allies do not express this position publicly because they fear a negative reaction from their citizens who actively support Ukraine.
Zelenskyy is confident that most Ukrainians abroad will return home. Today, some of them are waiting for Ukraine to become safer and for a particular stage of the war to end. In addition, after the war is over, the state will begin to rebuild, which will guarantee jobs.
There are also certain programs that will be launched in peacetime, the President emphasized.
