What the weather will be like on St. Nicholas Day and until the end of December: weather forecast

December in Ukraine is expected to be mild with unstable weather conditions. We shouldn’t expect any steady frosts, although some days with sub-zero temperatures are possible. This was stated by weather forecaster Natalia Golenya in an exclusive commentary for "Komersant Ukrainian".
The forecaster shared her preliminary forecast for the near future and until the end of the month.
“At the beginning of December, the weather without precipitation will prevail. The temperature at night will be from 0 to -1 below zero, and during the day – 1-6 above zero. No more than that. But this is preliminary, because everything can change,” notes Golenya.
As for the snow that has fallen, the forecaster predicts that its cover will be temporary:
“The snow is gradually subsiding. Tonight it will freeze, during the day it will be above freezing, but again in the afternoon it will be sleet with rain. The day after tomorrow – a slight frost.”
No significant changes are expected by the end of December:
“There may be some more precipitation at the end of the month. But in general, the temperature fund will be the same until the end of the month and the beginning of the next one: a slight frost at night and a slight plus during the day.”
The forecaster also drew attention to the fact that winter in the classical sense no longer exists in Ukraine.
“We can’t expect steady frosts. We don’t have winter as such. It’s been a long time since we had a winter when the average daily temperature was 0 or below. Although in early December, the first ten days, there should usually be a transition to winter weather, according to long-term averages. But in the last 2-3 years, we have hardly seen such a thing, so that there is a steady transition for at least two or three weeks, so that the average daily temperature is below 0 degrees. The maximum is a few days of frost,” noted Natalia Golenya.
Thus, the weather on St. Nicholas Day and until the end of December is expected to be changeable, without stable snow cover or severe frosts.
