What kind of coffee will rise in price in Ukraine in the first place and by how much (video)
25 December 18:20In Ukraine, coffee will rise in price in expensive establishments that have a brand and quality control. This was stated by expert economist Oleg Pendzin in a commentary to the Times of Ukraine, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.
The expert confirmed that coffee has indeed risen in price by almost 60% over the past year.
He explained that the cost of coffee drinks in Ukraine directly depends on the purchasing power of Ukrainians. Therefore, in expensive establishments, where there is appropriate quality control, we will indeed see an increase in coffee prices. This will happen because the brand corresponds to the purchasing power of the visitors who come there.
“Coffee in public places, outdoors… There is more chicory than coffee there anyway. People will take it beyond counting money and choose the drinks that are most suitable for them in terms of price. So when we talk about the likely increase in the price of a coffee drink, we are probably talking about expensive establishments,” Pendzin said.
The economist noted that coffee producers will be looking for opportunities to reduce the price of a cup for the mass consumer.
“This will include cereal additives, reducing the portion during preparation and other ways not to scare the consumer with the new price. Even instant coffee may be added to create the right flavor to keep the price acceptable to the consumer,” the expert predicted.
As a reminder, the media reports that latte and cappuccino will cost up to 100 hryvnias in February 2025. And espresso – up to 70 hryvnias. And in general, that the world is facing a coffee shortage. It is noted that the cost of coffee drinks will increase by 80-100% according to forecasts. And all because of the record prices of arabica on the exchanges. The rise was caused by crop failure and supply problems.
