The World Boxing Organisation (WBO) has sanctioned a fight for the vacant lightweight title between Ukrainian boxer Denis Berinchyk (18-0, 9 K Os) and Mexican Emanuel Navarrete (38-2, 31 KOs).
Berinchik and Navarrete will meet in a fight for the WBO championship belt in the near future. Both parties have 15 days to agree on the details and date of the fight. In case of failure to reach an agreement, the promoter’s bidding will take place, where the minimum bid is $150 thousand.
berincik, 35, already announced in January that he was waiting for official confirmation of his championship fight and considered the UK, the US and Saudi Arabia as potential venues.
Berincik’s last fight took place in August, where he defeated Anthony Yegit to defend his WBO International title for the third time, which he has held since 2018.
navarrete, 29, successfully defended his WBO featherweight title against Robson Conceicao in November.
The WBO title became vacant after Devin Haynie moved up to another weight class, and the WBO decided to organise a fight between the champions of the lower titles.
