After the closure of the airspace over Ukraine due to the high risk of aviation safety for civil aviation, trains have become even more popular and the number of international routes is expected to increase this winter. This was stated in a response to a request from Komersant ukrainskyi‘s inquiry, Ukrzaliznytsia said.

“On 15 December, the train timetable for 2024/2025 will be put into effect, which plans operational changes to existing international routes between Ukraine and neighbouring EU member states and Moldova and a number of new routes,” UZ said, adding that since the work is still ongoing and the projects of new connections are at different stages of implementation, more detailed information will be released after this stage is completed.

Where to buy tickets for international trains

Train services depart from a number of Ukrainian cities and are connected to various countries, including neighbouring countries. Most tickets can be purchased at the ticket office, on the website or app of Ukrzaliznytsia, as well as through the company’s chatbot. Some tickets may require verification through the Diia app.

A number of tickets for international flights can also be purchased on the international websites of the country of travel, hyperlinks to which will be published. Ticket prices vary depending on the destination and train. For some flights, a reserved seat can be purchased from 300 UAH (for example, Kyiv-Chop) and for 436 UAH (Chop-Kosice). However, for most international flights, ticket prices start from UAH 2000.
