Zelenskyy’s speech was not included in the official broadcast of the Budapest summit
7 November 23:19The official stream of the European Political Community summit in Budapest (which journalists receive) did not include Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s speech. This was reported by Radio Liberty, according to Komersant ukrainskyi
The journalists note that the video showed a speech by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and then French President Emmanuel Macron. Zelenskyy, who spoke between them, was omitted.
A Hungarian representative of the event organizers told reporters that “the president’s speech was not public, but the footage was passed on to the president’s team” and recommended that they contact the president’s team for the video.
Instead, representatives of the Ukrainian authorities said that it was not true that Ukraine had asked not to stream.
“The president’s speeches are always public, if the format of the event provides for it. We have not made any requests not to broadcast or publish the speech,” they replied to journalists.
It should be noted that the European Political Community Summit was hosted by Hungary this year.
In his speech, Volodymyr Zelenskyy called for increased pressure on Russia, more weapons for Ukraine, and rejected concessions to the Russian dictator.
Zelenskyy thanked the partners for their support of Ukraine, while noting that “sufficient weapons, not support in negotiations, are needed for defense.”
The summit brings together more than 40 leaders from almost all European countries (except Belarus and Russia).
