Processing plants are experiencing a shortage of milling wheat. Director of the Union “Millers of Ukraine” Rodion Rybchynsky told Latifundist.com that many enterprises have less than a month’s worth of wheat, Komersant ukrainskyi reports
“We have a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers that was issued during the war that we must have a 2-month supply of flour in our warehouses. Many companies have less than a month’s supply of grain. Today, companies are “chasing” truckloads of wheat. Companies that process a hundred tonnes a day are chasing a volume of 20-30 tonnes,” he said.
According to him, the Union of Millers of Ukraine has not signed the annex to the memorandum, which approves the maximum volume of wheat exports at 16.2 million tonnes.
“We proposed to specify in these 16.2 mln tonnes that 30% of the volume is milling wheat, and the remaining 70% is feed wheat. Neither farmers nor exporters supported us at the general meeting. And it was decided that they would sign this annex to the memorandum. There are no signatures from the Union of Millers of Ukraine, Ukrkhlibprom or the All-Ukrainian Bakers Association (AUA), because we believe that this is discrimination against domestic processors,” Rybchynsky said.
In May, it was reported that the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food offered wheat producers and processors to consider a potential return to the practice of signing a joint memorandum between the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and market participants on the volume of wheat exports to supply the domestic market.
on 19 July, the Ministry and grain market participants signed the Memorandum of Understanding for 2024/25 MY.
on September 3, the parties approved the maximum export volume of wheat and a mixture of wheat and rye (meslin) under the UKT FEA code 1001 in 2024/2025 MY at 16.2 mln tonnes.
