For the first time in history, Ukraine is going through the heating season on its own gas

For the first time, Ukraine is going through the heating season using gas produced exclusively by the country’s own companies. This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal during a telethon, reports

“We are going through this heating season for the first time in the history of Ukraine using domestically produced gas. “Naftogaz of Ukraine and Ukrgasvydobuvannya increased production volumes by 11%. They also opened new wells producing a fairly large volume of gas. Now we have about 10 billion cubic metres of gas in our storage facilities,”

– the Prime Minister said.

He also assured that the gas tariff for households would remain unchanged until the end of the season:

“We will not change the gas tariff. uAH 7.96 per cubic metre – the tariff for people will remain the same.”

Shmyhal also reminded that the government continues to pay subsidies to all those who cannot pay for gas personally.

“This year the government has allocated 25% more funds to pay subsidies to three million Ukrainian families. uAH 50 billion has been allocated, and we are paying the money to everyone who needs it today,”

– the Prime Minister said.
