Verka Serdyuchka is “stuck” in Ukraine: why Andriy Danylko was blocked from entering Europe

Andriy Danylko, who performs as Verka Serdyuchka, and his team have faced the impossibility of traveling abroad due to a sudden change in the rules for crossing the border. The artist announced this on his Instagram page, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.
“Due to the sudden suspension of the issuance of travel permits by the Ministry of Culture, and despite the documents submitted in advance, the band of People’s Artist of Ukraine Andriy Danylko “VERKA SERDUCHKA & BAND” did not receive permission (letter of assistance) to leave,” the artist wrote.
As it became known, the ban affected Danylko’s tour of Europe, which is why concerts in London, Alicante, Munich, Frankfurt and Prague had to be postponed.
The organizers assured that new dates will be announced later, and the tickets purchased are still valid. The artist’s team expressed regret over the situation and thanked the fans for their support, hoping for their understanding.
What preceded it
Andriy Danylko found himself in a difficult situation due to the fact that the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine suspended the issuance of special permits to artists and journalists from March 3, 2025, which directly affected the possibility of conducting foreign tours. The reason for such measures is that some people who received temporary travel permits did not return to the country, effectively evading mobilization. In this regard, the authorities decided to temporarily suspend the issuance of such documents to prevent possible abuse.
This situation caused a wide response among representatives of show business. Many artists have faced similar difficulties, as the decision of the Ministry of Culture was quite abrupt and left no time to prepare for the new conditions. Some musicians, actors, and journalists have expressed concern that the travel ban could last indefinitely, which would create serious problems for cultural exchange and international events.
It is not yet known when the restrictions will be lifted and whether Ukrainian artists will be able to resume their touring activities in full.
