From now on, excellent students will receive certificates with honors instead of medals, – MES

The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine has announced that from now on, students who complete their studies with high results will not receive gold or silver medals. Instead, graduates will be awarded certificates of education with honors, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
The ministry reminded that according to Order No. 1771 of December 20, 2024, the production and presentation of the medals “For High Achievement in Education” and “For Achievement in Education” was suspended in Ukraine.
Instead, students who have demonstrated excellent results will receive a corresponding award on their education certificate.
A certificate of basic secondary education with honors will be awarded to 9th grade students who have grades of 10-12 in all 9th grade subjects, including the results of the state final examination (if any). Grades for grades 5-8 will not be taken into account.
Graduates of the 11th (or 12th) grade will be able to receive a certificate of complete general secondary education with honors if they have 10-12 points in all subjects studied at the specialized level and in the final certification. Grades for grade 11 (12) are taken into account, as well as for grade 10 – only in those subjects that were completed in grade 10.
Despite the abolition of medals at the state level, educational institutions, local authorities, NGOs and other institutions can independently introduce their own forms of encouragement – certificates, letters of gratitude or even symbolic medals.
The Ministry of Education and Science also encourages schools to take into account not only academic achievements but also personal merits of students when deciding whether to award a certificate with honors.
These innovations are permanent and have entered into force.
