the “answer to Trump”: what is behind the “fake” Russian attack on November 11

11 November 16:11

On the morning of November 11, Russia took to the skies: eight Tu-95MS and three MiG-31K aircraft. A prolonged air raid alert was sounded in the capital and other Ukrainian cities. And in the Kyiv region, electricity was cut off as a precaution. But the enemy only carried out simulated launches of cruise missiles, after which the planes returned to their home airfields.

[Kommersant found out why the Russian Armed Forces carried out this “fake attack” and how much it cost the enemy to take 11 planes into the sky and then turn them back without launching missiles.

In an exclusive commentary for Komersant ukrainskyi, military expert Oleh Zhdanov suggested that this was a kind of dress rehearsal by Russia. And it is connected to the likely call between Donald Trump, who won the US presidential election, and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“Most likely, this is Putin’s response to Trump’s words about not escalating this conflict. That’s all. On Thursday, there were talks, telephone conversations, on Friday Putin arranged a record number of UAVs – 145 units, and today he raised the planes and showed what power he has in terms of a massive strike,” Zhdanov said.

Does this mean that this massive strike may take place in the coming days?

The military expert also warned that in the near future Russia could launch a massive missile strike on all regions of Ukraine. After all, the enemy has already accumulated the number of missiles necessary for this.

“It will soon be almost 70 days since they accumulated a sufficient number of missiles, they trained with pilots a few weeks ago. So they are ready to launch this strike at any time. And this kind of intimidation is based on the principle that expectations are much worse than death itself. Putin is putting psychological pressure on our country. And the strike can be made tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. They are ready,” the expert explains.

How much does it cost to refuel one plane, take it up and land it?

“I don’t know the exact amount in money, I’m not particularly familiar with Russian prices. I will tell you this – we are wrong… this is our mistake, that we are trying to measure the needs or necessity of Russia’s actions by normal human standards,” said Oleg Zhdanov.

The expert also expressed the opinion that the President of the Russian Federation is ready to introduce a card system in his country only in order to “pour the last liter of kerosene into the plane, in order to fire the last missile at us.”

“There is no understanding of how much it costs or how much they will spend on it. Why should they think about money when today we are pumping gas and oil, Russian oil, through our Druzhba pipeline for Hungary, Slovakia, Austria, and the Czech Republic. And it earns hard currency. They pay in euros. So what does it matter to him how much it costs to refuel the plane,” Zhdanov explained.

However, according to the military expert, Russia still has problems with missile-carrying aircraft. tU-95 aircraft have not been produced in Russia for a long time, and their technical condition can only be maintained by “cannibalism” – disassembling other aircraft for parts.
