President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy took part in the Vilnius Summit of the Bucharest Nine (B9) and the Nordic countries. This was reported by
The summit is attended by the leaders of the Baltic States, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Iceland, and Ukraine, as well as NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
The meeting is being organized by the countries of the region to coordinate their positions on the eve of the NATO Summit in The Hague. It is expected to discuss further support for Ukraine.
During his speech at the Bucharest Nine Summit in Vilnius, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of close cooperation with partners in security issues.
According to him, today’s meeting is extremely important given the current challenges.
The focus is on air defense, in particular the supply of Patriot systems and other air defense equipment, which remain critical to protecting the Ukrainian population from constant missile attacks.
Zelenskyy said that the development of Ukraine’s own defense production was also among the topics of the talks. The leaders intend to discuss financing mechanisms for this process to ensure a stable supply of weapons to the Ukrainian army in the long term.
The President paid special attention to the comparison of military potential: he emphasized that Europe and the United States have weapons that are superior to Russian capabilities. This, in particular, is evidenced by the results of the recent Ukrainian tactical operation called “The Web,” which demonstrated the real weakening of Russian forces.
According to the President, diplomacy becomes more effective when the aggressor is at a disadvantage. Today, Ukraine defends not only its own territory but also acts as a shield for the entire European space.
