Ukrainians Lyudmyla Luzan and Anastasiia Rybachok won silver at the Olympic Games in Paris in the 500m double sculls. This is reported by Komersant ukrainskyi with reference to the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine.
Ukraine’s silver medallists in the 2020 Paris Olympics in the double sculls finished third in their semi-final and advanced to the decisive race.
The medal race was not easy: the Ukrainians were sixth out of seven duos to cross the 250-metre equator. However, traditionally, with every next metre that brought the girls closer to the finish line, Liudmyla and Anastasiia gained.
The silver medallists were determined by the photo finish, which saw the Ukrainians beat the bronze medallists from Canada by 0.06 seconds. The gold medal went to the rowers from China.
This is the second consecutive medal for the girls in the 500m double sculls at the Olympics: both times they won silver.
