The cost of a ton of Ukrainian agricultural exports has increased by 40%: how farmers make money

Ukraine’s agricultural sector demonstrates impressive growth in export prices in 2025. According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, the average price of a ton of agricultural products for export increased 1.4 times: from $315 in 2024 to $443 in April 2025. This was announced by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Vitaliy Koval, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

According to him, the price per ton of Ukrainian agricultural exports has increased 1.4 times.

“This was done by increasing exports of value-added products, in particular, bioethanol,” Koval said.

Top 5 products of Ukrainian agricultural exports: what has increased in price

In 2025, prices for the top 5 agricultural products that form the basis of Ukrainian exports increased significantly.

In terms of per ton:

  • Sunflower oil: $1,174, up 37.8% from $852 in 2024.
  • Corn: $217, up 27.1% from $171 last year.
  • Wheat: $231, up 27.4% from the 2024 average price of $181.
  • Poultry meat: $2,385, up 11.2% from $2,145 in 2024.
  • Soybeans: $409, up 4.3% from $392 last year.

These figures show a steady increase in the value of Ukrainian agricultural products on world markets, which strengthens Ukraine’s position as a key supplier.

Mr. Koval added that the Ministry of Agrarian Policy continues to work on diversifying markets and expanding the export potential of the processing industry.

It is worth noting that in 2024, oilseeds became the most profitable. In particular, for rapeseed, this figure is close to 60%, for soybeans – up to 40%, and for sunflower – up to 30%.

Overall export results

Since the beginning of 2025, Ukraine has exported agricultural products worth $1.1 billion, equivalent to 2.5 million tons.

This result emphasizes not only the quantitative growth but also the qualitative improvement of the export structure due to processed products.
