In 2025, Ukraine may have several airports at once. This was told by the mayor of Lviv Andriy Sadovyy in an interview with the media “Your city”.
“It is unambiguous that this year several airports will start working in Ukraine. There are technical and other opportunities for this. There must be a political decision. Apparently, it will be”, – said Sadovy.
He did not specify which airports we are talking about, but noted that there are technical and other opportunities for this.
The mayor of Lviv recalled Israel as an example, which once decided that the airport in Tel Aviv should work even despite the war.
It should be noted that in November 2024, Crispin Ellison, senior partner of Marsh McLennan insurance company, in an interview with Reuters, named the Ukrainian airport, which in 2025 may be opened first.
According to him, it is about the airfield in Lviv. This will be possible subject to an appropriate political decision and safety confirmation from European regulators.
“If the regulators agree that it is safe to open and there is a political decision, the insurance industry is ready to support the recovery effort,” Ellison said.
Marsh McLennan is already working to establish an insurance fund to cover commercial aviation. According to Ellison, national and budget airlines are actively involved in the process.
It should be noted that Lviv airport named after Danylo Halytskyi, which is located in the city of Lviv. It should be noted that Lviv’s Daniel Halytskyi Airport, which before the war could serve up to 3,000 passengers per hour, is one of the most promising for reopening, as Lviv Oblast is much less exposed to Russian shelling compared to other regions.
