Victoria Nuland is known as one of the leading experts in the US State Department on European affairs, including Ukraine. In particular, she is credited with playing a crucial role in the US government’s communication with all sides of the conflict during the Maidan events of 2013-2014. The current unexpected visit of the US official comes amid reports of the lack of success in the US Congress’ efforts to allocate aid to Ukraine.
