Electric vehicles worth almost $1 billion imported to Ukraine: top countries-suppliers
28 November 13:52From January to September 2024, 45,361 passenger electric vehicles (BEVs) were imported to Ukraine, with a total value of $989 million. This is reported by Komersant ukrainskyi with reference to Ukravtoprom.
Out of the total number of imported battery electric vehicles, 12,619 were new, and the remaining 32,742 were used.
Importers spent $334 million on the purchase of new electric vehicles. The customs value of used electric vehicles amounted to $655 million.
Most often, new battery electric vehicles were imported from China (11,131 units). Japan is the second largest supplier country (472 units), and Germany is the third (304 units). New BEVs were also imported from the UK (247 units) and Belgium (214 units).
The leaders in the supply of used electric vehicles were:
- USA (12,602 units),
- Germany (5188 units),
- South Korea (4193 units),
- United Kingdom (3165 units)
- China (2147 units).
The statistics demonstrate the growing popularity of electric vehicles in Ukraine and indicate the regions where these cars are in greatest demand. The demand for electric cars grew by 68% over the year.
Meanwhile, the West is fighting the Chinese electric car industry: The EU is ready to take tough measures against Chinese electric cars, and the US will quadruple tariffs on them.
