The Defence of Ukraine curriculum for grades 10-11 has been given the “Recommended” stamp. This means that the new subject will soon be taught at school, reports Komersant ukrainskyi with reference to the a statement by the Of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
“Another important step in the formation of national consciousness and vital skills among young people,” the ministry said in a statement.
Features of the programme
- a single course for all students – equal opportunities regardless of gender;
- relevant topics – from military technology to information security;
- practical skills – marksmanship training, terrain orienteering, tactical medicine;
- focus on civilian protection and future planning.
What will be studied
grade 10: basics of national security, management and planning, weapons and military equipment;
grade 11: development of military technologies, information warfare, protection of civilians.
The content of the integrated course in grade 10 is structured into six modules:
Module 1: Fundamentals of national security and defence of Ukraine
Module 2: Fundamentals of management and planning
Module 3: Weapons and military equipment. Rifle training
Module 4: Fundamentals of action, communication and interaction in combat
Module 5: Terrain orientation and engineering fortification
Module 6: First aid in combat
The content of the integrated course in the 11th grade is structured into the following modules:
Module 1: Military technologies and their development
Module 2. Rifle training, basics of actions and interaction in combat
Module 3: Information warfare
Module 4. First aid in combat conditions
Module 5: Civilians in crisis conditions
Module 6: Planning for the future: personal role in the defence of Ukraine
The Ministry of Education and Science says that from now on, students will have a training day every month for deeper immersion in equipped centres with modern equipment such as drone simulators and shooting simulators.
