In August 2024, the demand for hybrid cars increased significantly in Ukraine. This is reported by Komersant ukrainskyi with reference to Ukravtoprom.
According to Ukravtoprom, cars with conventional engines retained their dominant position in the new passenger car market, accounting for almost 63% of sales, but this value decreased compared to last year’s 68%.
Ukrainians continue to choose cars with petrol engines, which accounted for 40.8% of August sales. This is 2 percentage points less than in August 2023.
At the same time, the segment of hybrid cars grew from 19.3% to 22.3%, which indicates a growing interest in such cars among Ukrainians.
There was also a decline in the share of diesel cars, from 25.8% to 22.1%.
The share of electric vehicles in the new car market increased to 14.3%, up from 11.8% in August last year.
Sales of cars with gas cylinder equipment remain at less than one per cent.
In terms of specific models, the top sellers in their respective segments were:
- Petrol cars: Mazda CX5;
- Hybrid cars: Toyota RAV-4;
- Diesel cars: Renault Duster;
- Electric cars: BYD Song Plus;
- Cars with HBO: Hyundai Tucson.
