Ukrainian winemakers will get a simplified access to European markets with their products thanks to the creation of a register of wine producers. This was reported by Komersant ukrainskyi reports with reference to the relevant draft law adopted by the Verkhovna Rada.
It is a draft law number 9139. It was supported by 311 MPs.
The document regulates the requirements for the production and circulation of wines and viticultural products with geographical indications, similar to current rules in the EU.
What the document says
It allows to expand the range of Ukrainian wines and increase their competitiveness in the domestic and international markets.
The new law harmonises Ukrainian requirements for the production and labelling of wine products with European standards. This opens up new opportunities for exporting Ukrainian wines to the EU markets, contributing to Ukraine’s further integration into the European economic community.
Thanks to the new labelling rules, consumers will have more information about the composition and origin of wines, which will allow them to make a more informed choice when buying.
The law contributes to the preservation and development of viticultural traditions in Ukraine, supporting unique grape varieties and cultural practices that are an important part of the national heritage.
Winemakers emphasise that this law is an important step towards improving the quality of Ukrainian wines and strengthening Ukraine’s position on the global wine scene. It not only supports producers but also provides Ukrainian consumers with access to high-quality products that meet the highest European standards.
