The order to launch the support service for military personnel and their families has passed legal review and has been registered by the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine. Thus, the Ministry of Defense has received the green light to launch military escort services. This was reported in the defense ministry, Komersant ukrainskyi informs.
According to the regulation, the escort services will operate within the structure of the Ministry of Defense, the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the State Special Transport Service. In the Armed Forces, the functions of these services will be performed by civil-military cooperation units. They will provide military personnel and their families with advice and assistance on legal, social, and medical issues.
The launch of the support services envisages the creation of a support system that will provide servicemen and their families with comprehensive assistance, from legal advice to medical rehabilitation.
In total, the support services will cover about two dozen areas of support.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine introduced regular patronage services
Back in August last year, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel General Oleksandr Syrskyi , approved the Concept for the Implementation of Social Support for Servicemen and Their Families in the System of Civil-Military Cooperation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Roadmap. And patronage services in military units have already become a kind of multi-hubs that bring together specialists in various fields: medical, financial, personnel, psychological, public relations, and more. According to the military themselves, this makes it possible to resolve issues of servicemen and their families more quickly.
What about the training of military support service specialists?
In preparation for the launch of the support services, the first groups of specialists have already been trained. They have acquired the necessary skills to provide legal and psychological assistance, organize medical support for the wounded, provide social support to the military and their families, and interact with the families of the dead, missing and captured.

According to the Ministry of Veterans, as of mid-February, 1,226 applicants had applied for the positions of veterans’ support specialists through the e-Veteran platform. The application process for the positions of support specialists for war veterans and demobilized persons has been completed.
Candidates undergo a rigorous selection process: psychological and legal tests, an interview to assess their professional knowledge, experience, communication skills, motivation and ability to work with veterans. Candidates’ professional knowledge and experience, motivation to work, communication skills, conflict resolution skills, affiliation and attitude to the veteran community are taken into account.
A network of psychological assistance for veterans is being formed
The key element of this system, according to the Ministry of Veterans, will be a training and methodological center based at the Borodyansky Center for Social and Psychological Rehabilitation. It will train and upgrade the skills of specialists working with veterans and their families, providing methodological support.
The program for providing free psychological assistance includes a three-tiered system that includes social and psychological support, specialized psychological assistance, and comprehensive medical and psychological rehabilitation.
The Ministry of Veterans will reimburse the cost of services provided to specialized institutions of various forms of ownership and individual entrepreneurs.
To become a service provider and receive reimbursement from the Ministry of Veterans Affairs, one must submit the following documents: qualification certificates, education documents, proof of work experience, and, in the case of medical practice, a license, as well as submit an application for registration and sign an agreement with the Ministry of Veterans Affairs.
