A 70 million-year-old piece of amber worth a million euros was found in the Colti commune in Buzau (Romania). This was reported by Komersant ukrainskyi with reference to Stirile.
Romania is one of the countries with significant amber deposits, and Buzau County is one of the areas where this semiprecious stone is found in large quantities. Thus, a local resident found a large piece of amber 10 years ago, which she thought was a piece of ordinary stone. The woman used the “boulder” to prop up her door.
In fact, she was the owner of the world’s largest amber nugget, weighing 3.5 kg. The stone was carefully examined by experts from the Krakow Historical Museum. They confirmed the authenticity and uniqueness of the nugget.
In addition to the record size of the nugget, the analyses carried out by the experts also showed that it is very old. Scientists estimate that it may be between 40 and 70 million years old.
